♥CHAPTER 2 ♥
I’d never thought life could be like this.
'Let's hear it for America's suitehearts
But I must confess
I'm in love with my own sins
You can bow and pretend
That you don't, don't know
You're a Legend'
I woke up thanks to the good ol' alarm clock. I wanted more sleep, I looked at the clock. It read: 8:00.
“Shit.” I cursed. I'm late. What a way to start off the first day of class. Hey, it’s not my fault. I still had the summer hangover, so sue me.
I got up with such a rush that I had to keep myself from falling. I brushed my teeth and I quickly put on a pink shirt and some faded grey skinnies I found lying on my floor, after that I brushed my hair and took a quick look at myself in the mirror. I checked the time, it read 8:15. 15 minutes till class starts. I took the waffles that were waiting for me downstairs and headed off for school.
I guess luck wasn’t on my side; my car just broke down so I had to run. Seeing as I had no other option but to run, I ran as fast as I could. After ten minutes, I made it with only a few minutes to spare. I quickly made my way to my locker; I saw the only ones there were the late-comers, the class-skippers, and a gang smoking pot. I grabbed a notebook in my locker, seeing as I had no time to search for the assigned notebook for my class.
I noticed a note neatly placed on one of my books. I grabbed it, thinking it was something important and began my race with time. Thankfully, I got to class the bell just rang. I let out a sigh of relief.
“Good morning, class” Mr. Burns, our Biology teacher said. Mr. Burns is probably one of the nicest teachers you’ll ever meet. Rumor has it that he once passed a boy in his class by making him run down the halls screaming ‘I love pancakes’.
“Today I will tell you the requirements for this year; first, projects must be passed on time. That means you Mr. Anderson” He smiled as we groaned. Sure he was nice, but I think he enjoys our torture way too much. He’s such a sadist.
I zoned out as soon as he said ‘requirements’. I listened to ‘One More Song’ by Every Avenue on my iPod. In the middle of the chorus, I remembered the note I found in my locker. I took it out of my sling bag, opened it and began reading.
Hayley,
I have something important to tell you. Meet me in the parking lot after school.
Alex Knight
I smirked at the thought of my dear friend Alex, having something important to say to my best friend, Hayley.
‘What if I gave Alex a visit in the parking lot after school?’ I thought.
After thinking of my devious plan, I waited for school to be over.
’Ugh. When will this torture end?!’ I thought.
It was as if the bell heard me and rang. I dashed out of the room and made my way to my next class. Thinking about that plan seems to make the day faster. I walked out of my last class and headed off to the parking lot.
I saw Alex pacing. I waited until he would stop moving and took deep breaths; he would do it if he was nervous. After a few minutes, he finally stopped. He looked around to see if Hayley was here, but me being her best friend, knew she was absent today because of a cold. I tapped him on his shoulder, he turned around. He took a minute to register who I am, he then gave a confused look on his face as he saw the note he left on my locker.
“…Cassie?!”
“Hi Alex. Long time no see, eh?” I smiled the most innocent smile I could give.
