What Exactly Is Holding Us Back?o6.

On with the story! Can't think of anything to add. Except Garrett's smexiness. :3

♥CHAPTER 6♥
We’ll stop the clock together, and know that the timing was right.

‘And if tonight ever makes a difference
The way that I feel the way that I'll remember it
I'll take this down until the glass remains
Swallow the words that I was meant to say’

The stupid alarm clock unleashed its annoying wrath once again; I have had enough of it and its ways of pissing me off, and at 6:45 in the morning too! I threw it out the window and made sure it was out of my sight and out of my way. Unfortunately, I still had to get up thanks to Dolores, one of the maids my dear parents hired. I wore a white tank top under a purple ‘The Cab’ hoodie, green skinnies; which by the way is my 3rd favorite pair of pants, and my purple chucks. Yeah, I was feeling purple-y today. I did my stuff and went downstairs.

“Good morning, Miss Cassandra.” Pierre greeted, he’s our very own personal chef. He has been with us for 10 years.
“Good morning Pierre, what’s for breakfast?” I took a seat on a stool near the counter.
“Well mademoiselle, today you will have my famous ham & cheese omelette, is that alright?” He asked in that French accent he had.
“Yeah sure, give me the eggs.” I finished my meal and I got my bag and made my way to my 2007 Audi S8. The principal told me that if I cut school or be late once more, he’d expel me. Psh, yeah right, I’m a senior for Pete’s sake. I’d just give him money and he’d let me finish high school. Not to brag or anything but sometimes they just keep an eye on me so that they could get some cash out of me. It really annoys me, I mean, my parents work so hard to earn money and they’re just going to get it like rocks. Grrr.

I arrived at school after 10 minutes, I’ve got 25 minutes to spare, and class doesn’t start until 8 am. The joys of high school. I met up with Hayley and we headed off to my locker.

“Hey Cas!” She greeted.
“Hey Hayley. What’s up?”
“Oh you know, you know!” She waved her hands in an ‘it’s no big deal’ matter.
“Oh do I? Will you please inform me on this ‘you know’ thing?” I smiled.
“Well, I was thinking-”
“Hold up! You…thinking?! What happened to the world?!” I raised my arms like it’s the end of the world.
“Ha-ha. Very funny miss I like Kayden Derek Sanders! As I was saying, I was thinking of asking Alex out.” She beamed.
“Oh really now? Well I think that’s a great idea. You two are so cute together!” I cheered.
“Yeah! So I’ll see you at lunch?”
“Okay, see you.” I made my way to English.

I sat next to Derek who greeted me with a simple wave.
“Hey Cassie, I want to ask you something.” He whispered, class was now starting and we had the second nicest teacher, Mrs. Andrews. She just asked us to read chapters 36 to 52 of some book I don’t even know.

“Yeah sure, what is it?” I asked.
“Well, I was wondering-if you’d…you know…like to…uh…go out tonight?” He had his head down. I was cheering on the inside but managed to compose myself in front of him.
“A-as a date?” I stuttered. He nodded his head
I took a deep breath and mimicked his action. I saw him exhale all the air he was holding in.
“Okay! So how I pick you up at 8pm?” He suggested.
“Sure.” And with that, I returned to reading the book assigned to us.

The day seemed to end in a hurry; I got out of my last class and went home to prepare for my date tonight. I already filled Hayley in on what was going on with me and Derek, she told me she asked Alex out and Alex replied with a ‘hell yes!’

I wore my faded gray skinnies and a white ‘We The Kings’ tank top under a black ‘Every Avenue’ hoodie, and my black high tops. I straightened my hair and added my make-up, eyeliner and lip gloss. I checked the time, it read: 7:55 pm. Derek should be here any minute.

The doorbell rang around 8:05 pm. I got up and answered it.

“I’m sorry I’m late but I just had to get you this” Derek handed me a bouquet of pink and red roses.
“Aww…Derek you didn’t have to.” I accepted it and placed it on the table near by.
“Oh, but I did.” He grinned.

We arrived at the theater; I got us popcorns while he got us tickets, we were seated in the back row. We were watching ‘The Unborn’. Derek and I were occasionally looking at each other, I caught Derek’s eye and immediately looked down. Derek casually put his arm around me, I couldn’t help but burst out laughing, earning stares from people near us.

“What?” He asked, laughing.
“You did not just pull that!” I pointed to his arm around me.
“Well, I just did.” He smirked.
“You’re such a loser!” I slapped his arm, he just shrugged.

The date exactly the kind you’d see in movies, typical movie, romantic date, and all that jazz. Surprisingly, I find myself enjoying the date. Derek walked me up to my porch.

“Cassie, I need to ask you something.” He began.
“Okay, shoot.”
“See the thing is, I really…like…like you.” He looked down.
“Wait-what?” I asked, surprised.
“Yeah…I mean, you’re cute, funny, talented, smart, and-” He rambled on but I cut him off.
“Stop, I mean, you mean it? You really like me?”
“Yeah.” He gave me a shy smile.
“Well in that case, I like you too Derek.” I blushed.
“Seriously?!”
“Yeah!” I smiled.
“Okay then, so…”He trailed off.
“Yeah?” I urged for him to continue.
“Will you be my girlfriend then?”
“Heck yeah!” I jumped and hugged him.
“So I’ll see you Monday then.”
And with that, he leaned in and kissed me. I know I should’ve felt some kind of spark in that kiss but no, no spark, no chemistry, nothing. I chose to ignore it though, hey I’m already the girlfriend of the man of my dreams; what more could I ask for?

‘If he’s the guy of my dreams then why doesn’t it feel right?’ I asked myself.
‘That’s because you only think of him as a friend, nothing more nothing less.’ A random voice in my head answered.
‘What the?! Have I finally gone insane?’ I shook my head and went inside.
‘No, I’m your conscience! Anyways, you don’t like him like that, he’s just a friend! Stop focusing yourself on him!’ My ‘conscience’ thought back.
‘Yeah okay, I’ll listen to you just because of that’ I thought back, sarcastically. Man, I think I’ve really gone insane!
‘Ugh. Never mind. It’s no use arguing with you!’ That’s the last time I’ve ever heard of the annoying, nagging voice in my head. Or so I thought.

This is the best night of my life so far, I got kissed by the guy of my dreams, he’s currently my boyfriend, my two best friends are together I think, and the voice in my head has ignored me. Yup, best night of my life!

I went to the kitchen and saw a note and two credit cards my mom left me. It read:

Cassie,
Your father and I went on a vacation trip for a few months; I left two credit cards to supply food, clothes, and other stuff for you.
We thought it would be better if we took time for ourselves, enjoy each other’s company. I’m so sorry I left you only a note, it was all too sudden.

Behave okay? I love you.

Love,
Mom

I sighed; I got the house all to myself for a few months. Joy. I made a sandwich and went upstairs. I took a shower then changed into my pajamas which consists of a plain white tank top and pajama pants that had bunnies and rainbows printed all over it. I watched TV for at least 5 hours, watching ‘spongebob squarepants’ re-runs. By the time I finished it was already 3:50 am.

I brushed my teeth and plopped on my bed, I began thinking about the events that happened today. In a matter of minutes, I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
