What Exactly Is Holding Us Back?o4.

Post. Post. Post. Having a hard time dealing with yahoo and quizilla. I want them to burn and rot. If they could do that.

♥CHAPTER 4♥
Tell Me What to Do

‘A loser can win whenever they want to
All that they gotta, gotta do
Is bring you down (bring you down)
Is bring you down’

I woke up at exactly 6:30 am, which gives me more time to make myself look presentable to the world. I fought my inner self from going back to sleep, I got up and made my way to my closet. I picked out a purple skelanimal shirt and black acid wash jeans; I went to my bathroom and started doing my daily routine. After I was finished, I went downstairs to get some breakfast.

“Morning Mom” I saw her making waffles, for me and for her.
“Well, you’re up early.” She set the waffles on a plate and handed it to me.

‘Yeah, I was too busy thinking of plans to make Hayley like Alex’ I thought. There was no way I’d say that to my mom, she’d want details. See, my mom is the sweet, loving, and tries-to-be-in kind of mom.

“Yeah…I wouldn’t want to be late for school.” I half-smiled, I love my mom to death, but sometimes she could me the most annoying person I’ve ever met.

“See you later mom, bye!” I said, after I finished my waffles and put them on the sink. I put on my shoes and went to the garage.

I started my 2007 Audi S8, surprisingly; it was in a better condition than it was yesterday. Yes, my family made good money, but I don’t let it go to my head unlike those stuck-up rich preps.

In a matter of minutes, I arrived in school. I saw Alex by the gate, waiting. I parked my car and went inside.

“Hey Cassie!” Alex ran up to me.
“Hey Alex, what’s up?” I took out my binder and started walking. It was only 7:15; I had fifteen more minutes to spare. He rubbed the back of his neck
“Well, I thought…that…you know…we could start…our…plan?” He asked more than he stated.
“Now? Aren’t we rushing things a little bit?” I was surprised. I mean, it was just the second day of school after all.
“Yeah…but…uhh…I don’t want to…to…to lose her.” He whispered the last part.
“Aww…wittle Awex weally woves my bestie!” I said in a baby voice while pinching his cheeks.
“Shut up. Ugh. Never mind. See you later Cassie.” He walked off, leaving me dumbfounded.

‘What did I do? Oh well, there’s Hayley; maybe I should ask her now. I mean, it’s either now or later.’ I thought.

I sat next to Hayley and started a conversation with her.

“Hey Hayley.” I greeted.
“Oh hey Cassie. What’s up?”

Hayley had this Barbie look. You know, bleached blonde hair, blue eyes, hour glass figure. But we’re best friends because she doesn’t let her looks get the best of her. She may look like the typical bitchy, rich girl but when you get to know her she’s really a person you can count on.

“Nothing much. Same old, same old. Say, what do you think of Alex Knight? He’s hott, funny, and athletic too! Aren’t those your type of boys?” I rambled on.
“Alex Knight? You mean that guy who hangs out with Derek?” The thing is, Hayley and Derek used to have a relationship, but they soon found out that they were better off as friends. I plan to keep it that way.
“Yeah. You should ask him out sometime, you’d be so cute together!” I cooed.

I’m not the whole matchmaker type, but I had to do it. It’s still a win-win situation; once they’re together, Hayley would find out things they have in common and begin to like Alex, Alex would be happy, and I’d have Derek.

“I’ll think about it. But he has to be the one who’ll ask me. It’d be too bitchy for me; I don’t do ‘asking out’” She air quoted ‘asking out’.

“Okay then.”

Just then, Mrs. Willows graced us with her holy presence and started the introductions. After ten or so minutes, I was getting bored. I took out my iPod and put it on shuffle. Hey, call me badass or whatever, but English was the easiest subject I had. One of the reasons I took this class is because it’s almost like free period.

Alex went in the room after thirty minutes.

“Mr. Knight, nice of you to join our class after-” She looked at the clock and back at Alex “thirty minutes of being somewhere else”

“Oh Mrs. Willows, the pleasure’s all mine. Don’t worry about it.” He tried to look innocent. I was snickering, at this point.

“Be quiet and take your seat Mr. Knight. I won’t have this nonsense chatter with you at the second day of school.”
“Okay ma’am.” He smiled at me and took a seat behind me.

I saw a piece of paper airplane land on my desk, I opened it.

‘hey, have you told Hayley yet? - Alex’ I sighed. Typical of boys to rush things that take time to do.

yes, she said you have to be the one to ask her out-Cassie’ I scribbled and threw it back to him.

‘what?! How am I suppose to do that?!’
‘I don’t know. Maybe grow some and act like the man you claim to be.haha’
‘okay, I have a way. Oh by the way, I told Derek. He said he’ll think about it’

Before I had a chance to write back. Mrs. Willows got a hold of the paper.

“Well, well, well, what do we have here? Passing notes at the second day of school? Really unlike you Mr. Knight. I expect you to be passing notes around the middle of the year but this-” Mrs. Willows held the paper up “This is so unlike you.”
“Yeah, I’m trying to do better Mrs. Willows, I really am” He smiled.
“How about we read the paper out loud, shall we?” The whole class seemed to wake up at the sound of juicy gossip. Alex and I exchanged glances.
“No! If you do, we’ll just keep doing it. We won’t do it again. Promise!” I gave her my best ‘sad face’.
”Okay fine. One more of this shenanigan and detention for both of you.” With that, she left. With the note. Damn it all.

After class, I walked to the clinic and told them I had a headache. I wasn’t in the mood for school. Heck, I had the knowledge of a 25 year old so what’s the point in learning something I already know?

They gave me a note saying I could leave school anytime I wanted, to get some rest. I walked out of school and made my way to my car, only to be stopped by Derek.

“Hey wait up!” He called out.
“What?” I was surprised but tried to keep my cool.
"You ditching?”
“Yeah. Want to join me?”
“Can’t. I have Brown for Physics next.” He looked glum.
“Good luck, looks like you’re going to need it with him around.” I kidded.
“Yeah. Text me?” His eyes sparkled with hope, making mine sparkled with glee.
“Of course. See you.” I waved.
“Bye.”

With that, I began my way to my car again, only to be stopped by Alex.
“Hey there.” He said.
“What is it with people stopping me from making my way to my car? Is it broken or something?” I wondered out loud, Alex giving me a confused look.
“Never mind. What is it?” I waved my randomness out.
“I saw you with Derek a while ago.” He smirked.
“Yeah. So?”
“Nothing. I just wanted you to know, he said yes.”
“Yes to what?” I tossed him the same confused look he gave me earlier.
“Yes to asking you out.” He stated like it was the most obvious thing in the whole world. It took a minute for me to register what he had said. My eyes were as big as saucers and my mouth agape, when I recover from shock; I jumped on him and gave him a hug.

“Really? Thank you so much. You have no idea how I love you right now.” I was ecstatic. He laughed.
“No problem. I’m not going to keep you from waiting to get to your house where you could jump around and be happy. I’ll see you later Cas, bye.” He walked off, leaving me to skip to my car without anyone stopping me.

When I arrived home, I took a quick shower and changed into blue shorts and a pink Cute Is What We Aim For shirt. I watched TV, ate, and surfed the net until 6pm. I forgot that I was suppose to text Derek. I took out my phone and began texting him.

After that, I lied on my bed and instantly fell asleep. I guess you’re wondering, does she live alone? Did her parents abandon her? Where are her parents?

To answer your questions, I do live alone but my mom visits every random day. No, my parents did not abandon me. How rude of you to think that! My dad is the head surgeon at this big hospital in New York City, the reason he’s not here is because of work. And as for my mom, well she’s traveling around the world with my Dad’s money. I have no idea why he doesn’t complain about it, maybe it’s because we have too many cash. During my mom’s visits here, she would always give me mom-daughter bonding day, whether I’d like it or not. As I’ve said or more so thought this morning, I love her to death but sometimes she could be a real pain in the ass.
